Westwood College Featured as an Option for I.T. and Cisco Career Training
DENVER, COLO. (October 22, 2008) - In celebration of Cisco Networking Academy's 10th Anniversary, Governor Ritter's office held a press briefing today featuring the Colorado Community College System, the Colorado Department of Education, Westwood College and others. With more than 50 Front Range high-school students in attendance, Colorado's state Chief Information Officer Mike Locatis, remarked that Colorado still requires thousands of trained I.T. professionals to fill high-tech jobs in both the public and private sectors. Locatis encouraged students to pursue high-tech training such as the certified Cisco Networking Academy programs.

Westwood College Students Learn More Than Politics While Working With Cisco At The Democratic National Convention
DENVER, COLO. (August 11, 2008) - Westwood College today announced that eight of its Cisco(R) Networking Academy(R) students have been selected to help install and support the vast communications infrastructure for the Democratic National Convention (DNC). Westwood students will work alongside Cisco engineers to install more than 700 voice over IP (VoIP) telephones, a wireless service canopy and the routers and switches that will transform Denver's Pepsi Center into a global hub for collaboration and communication.

Westwood College Launches Student-Powered Online Magazine
DENVER, COLO. (May 28, 2008) - Westwood College Online today announced the launch of a new online magazine produced by its School of Design students and faculty. WOL | DESIGN | ONLINE | Magazine may be the first of its kind in Design Education. The 166-page publication was designed and produced by Westwood Online students and faculty during an online course symposium.

Westwood College Graduate Receives National Award on Capitol Hill
Denver, Colo. (April 11, 2008) - Westwood College today announced that one of its graduates from the Anaheim, Calif. campus, Henry Lopez, received the Career College Association (CCA) 2008 GREAT (Graduate Recognition for Excellence, Achievement and Talent) Award at a ceremony on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC.

Westwood College Ranks in Top 10 in OEDb's 2008 Online College Rankings
Denver, Colo. (February 18, 2008) - The Online Education Database (OEDb) recently released its 2008 Online College Rankings, listing Westwood College in ninth place and in its top 10 for the second year in a row. The Online Education Database (OEDb) contains reviews of 1,038 programs from 41 accredited online colleges.

Westwood College Becomes a Candidate for HLC Accreditation
Denver, Colo. (November 15, 2007) - Westwood College today announced that it became a candidate for accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). HLC is part of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools that accredits colleges and universities. Westwood's candidacy was granted after a comprehensive review of Westwood's operations.

Career College Association Names Riedinger to Board of Directors
Denver, CO (July 20, 2007) - The Career College Association (CCA) recently named Alta College's Chairman of the Board Kirk Riedinger to CCA's 2007-2008 Board of Directors. Riedinger joins three others newly elected to the board and four individuals re-elected to their officer positions.

Career College Association Recognizes Westwood College Instructor Todd Bell as Teacher of the Year
Denver, Colo. (May 17, 2007) - Passion, dedication and rave reviews from students are several of the reasons that Westwood College Criminal Justice instructor Todd Bell received the Teacher of the Year Award from the Career College Association (CCA). The CCA Awards program recognizes exceptional colleges, graduates and individuals who have worked tirelessly to further the cause of career colleges and universities. Bell will receive his award during the annual CCA convention and exposition, held June 13-15 at the New Orleans Marriott.

Denver, Colo (March 21, 2007) - Westwood College will undergo an HLC candidacy evaluation visit starting on May 14, 2007. A team representing The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools will visit all Westwood College campuses.

Westwood College of Aviation Technology Changes Name to Redstone College, Westwood Aviation Institute Becomes Redstone Institute
March 1, 2006 (Denver, Colo.) - Effective today, Westwood College of Aviation Technology campuses in Denver and Los Angeles are operating under new names: Redstone College - Denver, and Redstone College - Los Angeles. In addition, Westwood Aviation Institute in Houston begins operating as Redstone Institute - Houston. The new Redstone names deliver on Westwood's strategy to maintain and enhance the unique identity of the campuses that offer aviation programs.

Westwood College Celebrates New Campus in South Bay Area
Feb. 27, 2006 (Torrance, Calif.) - Increasing enrollment, plus expected steady employment growth in California and a need for more trained employees, prompted Westwood College to open a new, expanded campus in California's South Bay area. To celebrate, the community is invited to a variety of grand opening events at the new campus, located at 19700 S. Vermont Ave., Torrance, on Thursday, March 2.

Jan. 23, 2006 (Houston, Texas) - Westwood College, a nation-wide system of hands-on career colleges, recently had its Houston campus honored by the Greater Southwest Houston Chamber of Commerce during its Fifth Annual Power Play Outstanding Business Awards for "Superior Customer Service" in the large business sector. Awards were presented at the Chairman's Gala on Thursday, Jan. 19.
